Tomorrow has two things for the German culture, seemingly conflicting in nature. One side is the fun stuff--Weiberfastnacht, when the women run the Karneval proceedings, and get to do whatever they like, especially in cities like Cologne and Mainz.
The other side, is that tomorrow marks the 74th anniversary of the execution of Sophie and Hans Scholl, two of the more notable personas in the German resistance movements.
Poignant, for sure.
